If you’ve ever had a survey done and found yourself squinting at jargon-filled phrases, this blog might just be for you. I’m a Chartered Building Surveyor and the owner of Lintels Surveyors Ltd. - a small, independent firm specialising in residential surveys. I spend most of my time crawling through lofts, poking around damp walls, and trying to explain what I’ve found in a way that doesn’t make eyes glaze over.
Why Start a Blog?
There are already plenty of blogs out there filled with technical jargon and corporate waffle. This isn’t one of them. I wanted to create a space where I can explain common property issues in plain English, share the occasional story from the surveyor’s front line, and hopefully help homeowners (and homebuyers) feel more confident navigating the quirks and pitfalls of bricks and mortar.
What to Expect
This blog will be:
Straightforward - no jargon and fillers.
Professional - accurate, honest advice rooted in experience.
Occasionally humorous - hopefully.
Some posts will be practical how-tos, others will be short insights from the field. Some will be mini case studies, and some might just be thoughts on what it means to do this job properly in a world that sometimes moves a bit too fast.
Finally…
Thanks for stopping by. If you’ve got a question, a niggling defect you’ve always wondered about, or a survey term that makes no sense, feel free to get in touch - I may just write about it.
